I was hesitant to buy this because the heat rating was lower than the more expensive mits. They work just fine for baking and they cleanup much better than cloth mits. My wife bakes often and they are in as good shape as they were a year ago. No regrets here.

I was so excited about these mitts, but upon their first use, it was evident that the heat transfers through to your hands from the time it takes to carry a cookie sheet from the oven to a counter about 10 feet away. I’m not saying you’ll get burned, but you’ll be uncomfortably hot! I’d expected this innovative material to be better than thick cotton padding with a teflon liner, but it’s not.

The oven mits work great to temperature, however they are a little slippery when handling smooth things like cookie sheets, you need to use 2 hands.

I would avoid these mitts. They really don’t protect your hands for very long. I have almost dropped several hot dishes before I could get them from the oven to a safe place on the counter because the heat just came through. In fact, the mitts themselves get hot enough that it’s painful after you put the hot pot down! While the magnet is somewhat handy, I find myself wishing I hadn’t thrown away my old cloth oven mitts.

I purchased two of these, to double-check the accuracy. They consistently “tracked” together through many uses. Now have one in each of my ovens. I also work in many different kitchens, so these go with me everywhere. Most oven thermostats are at least 25 to 50 degrees in error (even in “high-end” ovens), and this thermometer helps ensure consistent results every time.

I started baking artisan breads and pizzas a few months back and this little gadget make a huge difference in the outcome of your baked goods. I found my oven, although only a few years old, to be off by 25-30 degrees at times. I like that you can either hang it on the rack, or set it on top. The high temp rating is great for pizzas.

This Oven thermometer would not go past 450 degrees regardless of the oven setting. I bake bread and I need a 500 degree oven setting. Using this thermometer made it impossible to get an accurate oven temperature. A total waste of money and it was’t inexpensive either!!

This review is not based on actual use because as soon as I slipped my hand into the mitt, I felt something very scratchy. I looked, and the inside seams of the mitt were littered with tiny, hard brown flecks, like wood chips. I looked at the other mitt (it comes in pairs), and it was the same way. What are wood chips doing in an oven mitt? Better question- what else are they using for filler? I am returning these today.
